The students will be evaluated with a written examination and an oral examination. The written examination regards the conceptual/theoretical topics of the course, whereas the oral examination mainly concerns the use of the application programs considered in the course. The combination of the two exams allows the students to show their knowledge of fundamental concepts such as the representation of information, the components of a computer and networks, and also of the way in which application programs can be used to increase their users efficiency and effectiveness.

Obiettivi formativi
The aim of the course is to introduce the following topics: • the digital representation of information. • the characteristics of the principal components of a computer, both in terms of hardware and software. • the key concepts of computer networks. • the use of application programs to increase users’ efficiency and effectiveness in a wide number of contexts, including at university and in the workplace. At the end of the course, the students will be able to use the knowledge in order to understand and evaluate the characteristics of computers, and to use a number of the most commonly-used application programs.- Oggetto:
